Studying the Signature Level 2 Certificate in British Sign Language develops your ability to communicate with Deaf people using British Sign Language in a range of familiar topics. You will learn everyday conversation and have the opportunity to study two of the following themes:

  • Eating and drinking
  • Shopping and spending
  • Travel and holidays

The qualification is split into three units:

BSL201 – BSL Receptive skills

This unit uses everyday conversation to develop receptive skills and widen vocabulary. For the assessment you will watch a BSL clip and answer multiple choice questions.

BSL202 – BSL Productive skills

In this unit you will learn new vocabulary and productive skills. Your confidence will grow and you will sign for longer. For this assessment you present in BSL to your teacher.

BSL203 – BSL Conversational skills

This unit helps you improve your receptive and productive skills, non manual features, sign order and vocabulary. The assessment is a conversation between you and your teacher.
